Use of Radioisotope Tracer Techniques in Contamination Studies
SourceOne of the most valuable and accurate ways of measuring and evaluating contamination removal is through the use of radioisotopes. The process entails: (1) incorporation of a radioisotope into the contaminant to be studied; (2) application of the “tagged” contaminant to the substrate to be studied; (3) measurement of the amount of contaminant on the substrate; (4) subjecting the substrate to the industrial cleaning process under surveillance; and (5) measurement of the amount of contamination remaining on the substrate.
