New Test Method for Determination of Olefins in Liquid Spark Ignition Fuels by Raman Spectroscopy
1. Scope
This test method covers the determination of the total amount of olefins in liquid spark ignition fuels using Raman Spectroscopy. Results are expressed in volume percent. The application range is 0.3% to 25% total olefins. This test method can be used for analysis of commercial gasolines with or without varying levels of oxygenates, such as ethanol, other alcohols and ethers.
Keywords
gasoline; Raman Spectroscopy; olefins; laser; CCD camera.
Rationale
This test method is a quick analysis to be used for commercial gasolines with or without varying levels of oxygenates, such as ethanol, other alcohols and ethers. This method has previously been balloted under WK34260 and WK88828.
The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
