New Terminology for Terminology for EAF/BOF Slag as an SCM

1. Scope

There are several different types of slag (ie; EAF, BOF,etc.) generated during the production of steel. This item will define suitable terminology to identify which steel slag(s) is suitable for use as an SCM.

Keywords

EAF Slag, BOF Slag, SCM

Rationale

After the last 9.24 meeting there has been a lot of conversation as to the use of EAF Slag as an SCM. One of the concerns is the terminology. EAF Slag is typically used as an aggregate at this time. We need to address the naming / terminology to clarify what we are talking about and avoid confusion over the different types of EAF Slag. While Terminology would typically fall within C-125, in this case I think 9.24 should develop the wording before it gets there.

The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
