Revision of E2886/E2886M-20 Standard Test Method for Evaluating the Ability of Exterior Vents to Resist the Entry of Embers and Direct Flame Impingement

Rationale

The ability of exterior vents to resist fire and embers is an important life safety topic. However, as vents are exposed to numerous weather conditions, the vents that are tested and certified should also have a weathering component to ensure that they still hold up to the fire requirements after weathering. Full-scale vent samples should be tested to weathering and then fire tests. A weathering section with E2886 is needed to give clarification on how to do this.
