Revision of D4101-24 Standard Classification System and Basis for Specification for Polypropylene Injection and Extrusion Materials
Rationale
There appears to be ambiguous language in the main body of ASTM D4101, specifically in Section 13.1.4 regarding testing for 1% secant modulus using ASTM D790.
When this test and standard are referenced in Tables A–C, G–H, T, and X2.1, a 50 mm nominal span length is specified. However, in Section 13.1.4 of the standard, the term nominal is not used in relation to the 50 mm span requirement.
Because the 50 mm span length in the main body does not include any tolerance, this omission seems to be an oversight and should be corrected to maintain consistency with the tables and avoid ambiguity.
