Revision of G106-89(2023) Standard Practice for Verification of Algorithm and Equipment for Electrochemical Impedance Measurements

Rationale

ASTM G106 is a Standard Practice that is designed to verify one's instrumentation and technique for collection and presenting electrochemical impedance data. This revision serves two objectives: 1) review the accuracy of the stainless steel data reported for different equipment and vendors and 2) incorporate EIS advancements that may now be standard practice, e.g., varieties of applications/end uses, equivalent circuit modeling, automations, etc. As appropriate, the revision may consider whether a Standard Test Method is now appropriate and conduct a formal ASTM Interlaboratory Study. ASTM G106 Standard Practice is largely unmodified since its development in the 1980's and produced concurrently with G05 (potentiodynamic polarization) and G59 (linear polarization resistance) Standard Test Methods.
