ASTM WK96975

Revision of A653/A653M-25 Standard Specification for Steel Sheet, Zinc-Coated (Galvanized) or Zinc-Iron Alloy-Coated (Galvannealed) by the Hot-Dip Process

Rationale

Added a new structural steel Grade SS 100 [690], which is a natural outgrowth of the long-standing SS 80 [550]. It is available in two classes (Class 1 and Class 2). SS 100 [690] Class 1 is intended for steels which consistently meet the minimum: yield strength and tensile strength requirements defined by SS 100 [690] Class 1. Class 2 is intended for steels which consistently meet the minimum: yield strength, tensile strength, and total elongation requirements defined by SS 100 [690] Class 2. Both Class 1 and Class 2 obtain their strengthening from cold-work hardening, utilizing the same required chemical composition. Class 2 is typically produced with special heat treating practices intended to impart greater ductility, resulting in a minimum total elongation of 3 %.
To simplify this ballot item, only the affected sections of the specification are shown.
