Revision of F2376-24 Standard Practice for Classification, Design, Manufacture, Construction, and Operation of Water Slide Systems

Rationale

Paragraph 4.4.1 requires that load and strength calculations be certified by a professional engineer. Corresponding requirements are not found in the loads and strengths portions of F2291. Certification is potentially controversial, and the term 'professional engineer' is specific to the United States. In order to maintain F2376 as an international standard, 'professional engineer' is being replaced by 'qualified engineer.' It is left to the Authority Having Jurisdiction to apply licensing or certification requirements, should design review be required.
The term 'qualified engineer' is currently used, without definition, in F1193 and F2959.
Additional minor alterations are proposed to eliminate the reference to 4.4 as a section, to improve consistency with the F747-defined term 'accepted engineering practice,' and to improve readability. According to Form & Style, 'This section' should be interpreted as section 4, rather than the intended subdivision 4.4.
