New Specification for Specification for Thin Rubber Film Industry Reference Material (IRM # TBD)
1. Scope
To establish and validate the specification for a thin rubber film industry reference material used by rubber testing laboratories involved in this type of testing (i.e. single use gloves, condoms, etc.)
Keywords
thin rubber film; IRM
Rationale
The ASTM D11.40 Rubber Commercial Products, and ASTM D11.20 Rubber IRM, committees are looking for individuals and or laboratories that would be willing to participate in the development of an IRM for Medical, Surgical and commercial gloves and condoms. Currently there are no IRMs for thin film rubber materials such as gloves. The need for an IRM has come to light as differing results have been reported for physicals properties of gloves tested in different labs. The development of an IRM would ensure that the results between different labs can be evaluated more clearly. If you would like to participate in this working group or would like more information on how the working group will proceed please send your contact information to Ana Barbur at ARDL (anab@ARDL.com ).
The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
