Revision of E1670-95a(2018) Standard Classification for Serviceability of an Office Facility for Management of Operations and Maintenance

Rationale

E1670-95a (Reapproved 2018) – “Standard Classification for Serviceability of an Office Facility for Management of Operations and Maintenance, Access and Wayfinding is one of a group of ASTM standard classifications that together constitute a method for determining user requirements and associated building serviceability. This serviceability standard focuses on an office’s ability to provide operations and maintenance strategic direction, judging staffing competency, determining occupation satisfaction, and the management of utilities. The serviceability standards were originally issued in 1995 are in need of updating because of the ways that office buildings are managed. There have also been lessons learned from applying this standard resulting in adjustments to the parsing of details in the scales and its graphical presentation to users that improve effectiveness and economy that need to be incorporated into the standard classifications. E1670-95A needs to be updated as part of keeping the entire group of standard classifications relevant and useable as well as consolidated to eliminate repetition and simplify access to information.
