New Practice for Standard Practices for Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle in Waste Management

1. Scope

1.1 This standard practice provides guidance for implementing strategies to reduce, reuse, and recycle materials generated during pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical manufacturing operations.

1.2 This practice is applicable to materials management throughout the manufacturing lifecycle, including but not limited to raw material handling, process consumables, single-use systems, solvents, and packaging used within the manufacturing facility. This practice does not supersede any regulatory requirements, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), nor does it address final product distribution or post-consumer waste.

1.3 The units of measurement cited in any referenced standard practice or regulation shall be used.
