New Guide for Microparticles: Identification, assessment and cleanup.
1. Scope
This will be an introductory guide on identification, assessment and cleanup of microparticles, including microplastics, in air, soil, sediment, surface water and groundwater.
Scope of the document will include elements of:
• Identification of microplastics in different media
• Initial characterization of microplastics
• Best management practices
• Checklists and documentation

Rationale
Microparticles are a major environmental and human health concern. As we understand their occurrence and prevalence across many media and evaluate the direct and indirect effects on ecological and human receptors, we are learning more about these microparticles. Still there is a lot to understand and this document will give us an opportunity to deliver information to potential users.
The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
