New Specification for Aramid Fiber Reinforced Flexible Fabric-Reinforced Pipe (FFRP) for Loose-fit Non-Interactive Pressure Pipeline Rehabilitation
1. Scope
This Specification covers requirements and test methods for materials of flexible fabric reinforced thermoplastic pipe intended for the rehabilitation of pressure pipelines.
The application is for potable water and non-potable water, fire water, municipal sewage, industrial process liquids and effluent pipelines.
Keywords
FFRP, aramid fiber; reinforced composite; hybrid reinforcement; thermoplastic reinforced liner
Rationale
This standard is needed as currently there is no ASTM standard. Fabric reinforced lining systems have been utilized extensively to rehabilitate pressure pipelines worldwide for about 25 years. These technologies are commonly specified by municipalities, design engineers and private owners and installed by certified contractors and municipalities.
The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
