New Test Method for Determining Carbon Intensity via Regenerative Agriculture Process
1. Scope
This standard utilizes baseline soil carbon storage, annual carbon sequestration levels, and other emerging diagnostics (such as nitrous oxide emissions) along with classical life cycle analysis to provide a consensus-based method for determining and validating a carbon intensity (CI) score across a broad diversity of bio-based product categories.
Keywords
carbon negative; carbon neutral: emissions: carbon intensity: regenerative agriculture: soil carbon sequestration: microbes: geological soil
Rationale
The standard will provide the methodology to enable & support a consumer facing carbon intensity score which will provide choices for consumers when making purchasing decisions based on sustainable bio-based products.
The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
