These papers attempt to characterize the many types of flaws frequently encountered in composite materials and to show how these flaws influence the response of material. This publication presents the state-of-the-art of nondestructive inspection methodologies, assesses deficiencies; evaluates the analytical methods for the description of critical flaw geometries and growth phenomena; and develops a basic understanding of failure phenomena and established methods of fractography.
