Behavior of Fiber-Reinforced Plastic Laminates under Biaxial Loading
This paper reports on 54 biaxial-loading tests on fiber glass-epoxy laminates of three lamination schemes: parallel ply, cross ply, and quasi-isotropic. The tests were conducted on a specially designed fixture using a cable-pulley system in conjunction with a universal testing machine. The loadings were biaxial tension with 1:1 and 1:2 principal-load ratios. The contours of the reduced-thickness test sections of the flat specimens were designed to achieve a uniform-stress field.
