Weathering Tests on Metallic Coatings

In this effort to summarize the purposes, methods, and application of weathering tests of metallic coatings, reference will be made chiefly to the atmospheric exposure tests of electroplated coatings that have been conducted since 1932 by the American Electroplaters' Society, ASTM Committee B-8 on Electrodeposited Metallic Coatings, and the National Bureau of Standards in cooperation. Consideration will be given especially to the factors involved in these tests, rather than to specific results, most of which have been published.
