Instruments for the Measurement of Metallic Appearance
SourceThe need to measure and control the appearance of metallic surfaces is increasing. Because metals are optically different from nonmetals, methods of appearance control can not be borrowed directly from other industries. Nevertheless, numerous instruments for measuring the color and geometric attributes of metallic appearance have been developed. Methods and terminology are reviewed, and instruments currently available to the metals technologist are described.
