Preliminary Investigation of the Determination of Fluorine in Lime

Since it has been found that small amounts of fluorine produce undesirable biological reactions, of which mottled teeth is an example, a great deal of attention has been paid to the determination of fluorine in foods and drugs. Since chemical lime is used as a raw material in the manufacture of certain food products, the manufacturer of such products is particularly interested in the fluorine content of the lime he uses. The lime producer is likewise interested in eliminating, in so far as possible, this element in the lime he proposes to furnish the food industry.
