Circulating Autoclave System for Stress Corrosion Cracking Studies
SourceA circulating autoclave system has been constructed and operated in which time-to-breaking can be determined exactly at temperatures to 700 F, pressures to 5000 psi, a wide range of stresses, various concentrations of dissolved gases and ionic species, and for a large number of specimens exposed simultaneously. Preliminary experiments have studied commercial and specially melted iron-nickel-chromium alloys. Results have confirmed already established trends for the effect of environment and alloy composition at 500 F.
