Determination of the Shear Stability of Non-Newtonian Liquids
SourceSection B on Viscosity Methods— Non-Newtonian Liquids, of Research Division VII on Flow Properties, of ASTM Committee D-2 on Petroleum Products and Lubricants has been assigned the responsibility of developing test methods for measuring the shear stability of non-Newtonian liquids and for measuring the viscosity of non-Newtonian liquids at high rates of shear. In order to carry out the first of these assignments, the section at its meeting in Washington, D. C. on February 4, 1952, decided to undertake cooperative work to determine which, if any, of the methods in use at various laboratories were suitable for measuring the shear stability of mineral oils containing high molecular weight polymers.
