Basic Concepts of Water Vapor Migration and Their Application to Frame Walls
SourceThe laws governing water vapor flow and heat flow through solids are quite similar, but the vapor flow coefficient or permeability is not constant, relative humidity being an important factor for some materials. Vapor flow in the walls of frame dwellings is an unsteady state, and its control by a vapor barrier must consider the moisture storage capacity of wall materials as well as climatic conditions.
