Motor Gasoline Octane Test Method Developments
SourceIn discussing RD-I Motor Gasoline octane testing, three phases will be covered: (1) the objectives; (2) orientation relative to the Motor Fuel Methods, and (3) a discussion of the specific test programs currently under way or contemplated to improve precision or make the methods more meaningful. The present limitations or barriers currently surrounding the development of improved methods will be pointed out and then compared to the pros and cons of revising or even dropping these limitations in order to obtain better techniques for rating motor fuels.
