The Effects of Molding Conditions Upon the Permanence of Plastics
SourceDuring their useful life, plastic objects may be subjected to a variety of chemical, thermal, and mechanical conditions.
Changes in fabrication conditions can cause considerable variation in several physical properties of thermosetting and thermoplastic materials. There is always a range of physical properties obtained, even though fabrication conditions are maintained as constant as possible.
Certain permanence properties can be affected markedly by such changes in the physical properties of the original specimens.
It is suggested that when undertaking permanence studies that the samples be made under various conditions.
