A Facility for the Evaluation of Resistance Strain Gages at Elevated Temperatures
SourceBecause of the urgent need for making strain measurements under elevated temperature conditions, a number of “high-temperature” strain gages have recently become available. Although most of the companies producing these gages provide some performance information, potential users are in need of much more complete information in order to choose a gage suitable for their needs and to interpret test results obtained with it. Such information will also assist in the development of better gages. A facility which is being established at the National Bureau of Standards for the comprehensive evaluation of these gages is described and some typical results of the evaluation tests are shown.
