The importance of accurate temperature measurements and precise temperature control in creep and rupture testing is generally recognized. Both are urgently stressed in the pertinent ASTM recommended practices which emphasize that the recommended temperature limits are not intended to relieve the testing laboratory of the need to make every effort to control within much narrower limits and, in particular, to hold short-term temperature fluctuations to a minimum.
