Tension and Torsion Tests on Nimonic Alloys at High Temperatures
SourceIn high-temperature engineering, despite the concentration of interest upon creep and stress-rupture testing, designers still make use of data provided by conventional short-time tension and torsion tests. Apparatus and test methods for both types of test, at temperatures up to 1000 C (1830 F), are described. Tension results are presented for the nickel-chromium-base alloys Nimonic 75 and Nimonic 80A and the nickel-chromium-cobalt-base alloys Nimonic 90 and Nimonic 95, together with torsion results for Nimonic 80A and Nimonic 90, the two alloys which have been most widely used in Great Britain for gas-turbine rotor blading.
