Alloys and Ceramic Materials for High-Temperature Service
SourceWhen the National Defense Research Committee Projects NRC-8, NRC-41, NRC-88, and NRC-90 contracts were discontinued on October 31, 1945, many interesting and unsolved problems still existed that needed further study. These problems concerned ceramic materials as well as metals for gas-turbine service. The Office of Research and Inventions, Navy Department, entered into a contract with Battelle Memorial Institute to carry on research on “Alloys and Ceramic Materials for High-Temperature Service.” Cooperating with Battelle on a subcontract basis are Rustless Iron and Steel Corp., Crane Co., The Midvale Co., and the University of Michigan.
