The objective of metallurgical texture investigation is not only to elucidate the interactions between deformation mechanisms and texture development (Chapter 3) but also to explain their influence on the mechanical anisotropy of textured polycrystals. If one knows the interactions between deformation mechanisms and texture development, it should then be possible to predict the mechanical anisotropy of a component with a given texture by means of the deformation mechanisms.
