In order to trace the texture development, as well as to relate the texture, for example, to mechanical anisotropy, an exact and quantitative determination of the preferred crystallographic orientation is required. This requires comparative intensity values because the measured lattice plane intensity of a textured specimen must be related to that of the same lattice plane of a randomly oriented specimen.
