The rapid advances in the level of hydraulic power utilized in underground mining equipment has not found necessary filtering and maintenance techniques keeping pace.

This paper describes methods employed to assure full flow filtration, incorporating a rather drastic departure from tradition in choice of filter opening to optimize life of component. Additionally, problems of adverse environment and fluid handling are described.
