The eight papers in this symposium fall naturally into two groups. One set of four papers relates to the basic natures of asphalt and asphalt testing. The other four are concerned with problems related to some applications of blown asphalts in the roofing field. Thus, the Symposium logically could be presented in two sessions, one of basic and the other of applied information.
