Proportionately, the wall thickness of a hen's egg, compared to its outside diameter, is six times as great as the same comparative dimensions on one of the solid rocket motors currently in production. This fact proves nothing in terms of material strnegth, but it does serve to illustrate the degree of structural perfection demanded in high-strength steel rocket motor cases.
