This paper presents four aspects of the helicopter fatigue problem as viewed by the Federal Aviation Agency. They relate to: (1) development of the fatigue requirements for civil helicopters; (2) application of these fatigue requirements; (3) history of failures known to have been attributed to or influenced by fatigue; and (4) future prospects for new and improved means to cope with fatigue evaluation problems.
