Measurement of Excess Hydrostatic Pressures in Soils

The California Division of Highways has been using the nonmetallic type piezometer developed by Arthur Casagrande for use at the Logan International Airport. Many of these piezometers have been in place for several years. The factors affecting the installation and operation of the piezometers are presented. Several typical examples are given illustrating the type of data being obtained.
