Anisotropic Effects in Testing Plastics
SourceThe anisotropy of some plastic articles, both in the mechanical and the optical senses, is well known in practice. These effects are related to the chemical structure of the material as well as to the mold design and manufacturing conditions. Standardized testing methods for examining anisotropy of plastics could provide designers and molders with more reliable data than hitherto. Examples are given of a technique for the measurement of anisotropy in different materials, and of the influence of molding conditions on anisotropy.
