Controlling Quality on Soldered Electrical Connections
SourceSince World War II, the science of electronics has broken through the rigid, confining barriers of communications into almost every field which involves something that moves or something that must be measured or controlled. Terms like transistor, servomechanism, feedback circuit, magnetron, thyratron, which were, only a few short years ago, the sole property of theorists and researchers, are now common everyday words, not only in the communications industry, but in many others as well. Throughout all of these developments in theory and concepts, during all of the evolution in manufacturing techniques, one item has remained: solder. Although, in many instances, solderless connections of one type or another are used, the mainstay for obtaining a sound electrical connection is still the intelligent use of soft lead alloy solders.
