Soldering Fluxes and Flux Principles
SourceMuch has been written about fluxes but when Western Union desired to utilize these written data, they appeared to consist of diverse and disconnected items and Western Union could find no basic principles upon which it could rely in solving a serious problem of soldering in electrical circuits. This lack of cohesion may have been due to the fact that the problem of soldering involves not one but several branches of science including chemistry, physics, and metallurgy. Whatever the cause, there does not appear to be any logical reason for a subject as old as this to be so lacking in principle.
