Engineering adhesives are assuming increasing importance in structures of various kinds. Their mechanical properties and their deterioration under adverse conditionsare, consequently, factors of considerable importance. A program of research has therefore been sponsored by Army Ordnance to investigate nonbiological factors leading to the deterioration of such adhesives, particularly in metal to metal bonds.
