Experience with Geophysics in New York State
SourceThe New York State Bureau of Soil Mechanics has been using both electrical resistivity and seismic methods of exploration as aids in determining subsurface conditions for a wide variety of engineering applications during the past 3½ years. The original equipment consisted of a Gish-Rooney type electrical resistivity apparatus and a three-channel seismograph with carbon granule seismometers. Approximately a year ago two additional twelve-channel seismograph outfits with electro-magnetic seismometers and two-stage signal amplification were procured.
