Powder metallurgy in industrial practice has been limited to materials which, in general, have low physical properties. Materials made by the cold-press process are generally low in density, tensile strength, hardness, impact strength, etc. There are, of course, many applications where low physical properties are not detrimental, but generally, good physical properties and high density parts are advantageous.
