During the past few years a very important line of products has been developed by powder metallurgical means, namely, metallic friction materials, such as clutch facings and brake linings (see Fig. 1). These metallic friction materials are being used for tractors, tanks, airplane brakes, turret lathes, and for many other applications in which severe braking and clutching conditions are encountered.
