The Effect of Particle Size on the Shrinkage of Metal Compacts
SourceThe phenomenon of shrinkage of powder metal compacts during sintering is quite well known, and a great deal of experimental work has been done showing the effect that variations of particle size have on the shrinkage of the compact. To the best of my knowledge, however, all of the work thus far has been done by measuring the compacts before and after sintering, and there exists no picture to tell us what happens during the sintering operation.
