In a symposium devoted to the effect of temperature upon the properties of metals, and of the scope of the present one, it is extremely unlikely that the subject of thermal expansion and its importance would be overlooked. Hardly an author dealing with the needs of industry can avoid reference to it, and many dealing with available materials will undoubtedly point to desirable or undesirable expansion properties of those materials.
