Micromechanics of Boron Filament Reinforced Aluminum Composites
SourceThis paper reviews recent observations of the mechanical behavior of boron aluminum composites subjected to a variety of stress states for a wide range of strain rates and temperatures. Results are presented for composites produced by melt infiltration, powder metallurgy, and diffusion bonding fabrication techniques. An attempt is made to describe the unique properties of these composites. In particular, the factors causing departures from elementary mathematical idealizations are discussed.
