Application of Asphalt Viscosity to Paving Problems
SourceInformation on (1) the viscosity levels that permit the most efficient pavement construction operations and (2) the viscosity factors most desirable for pavement performance is meager and clouded by the influences of asphalt mix compositions. The temperature viscosity and viscosity rate of shear characteristics of the asphalts can be measured on the original material and on material separated from the mixes and from the pavement. These viscosity factors can be used in the design and construction of the asphalt pavement and for comparing the performances of the asphalts.
