Fatigue Testing of Roller Bearings

In the early 1900's there was little or no knowledge of the fatigue life of roller bearings. The load-carrying ability of bearings of that era was, similar to plain journal bearings, based on an allowable pressure per square inch of projected bearing area. Effect of speed and the probable life of these bearings were unknown.
