Much information has been accumulated and a great deal has been published regarding the fatigue of metals, referring most particularly to the lower carbon and alloy steels. However, little information has been available regarding the fatigue characteristics of the higher carbon and higher alloy steels used in the completely hardened martensitic state and which are generally subjected to Compressive loads.
