The irradiation effects studies described here are being carried out by AB Atomenergi (the Atomic Energy Co. of Sweden), a company in which a majority of the shares is held by the state, with private and municipal interests holding the remainder. About 1500 persons are employed of which some 20 per cent are university graduates. The activities of the company are financed by the state, the total grant between 1947 and 1962 amounting to around 145 million dollars. For the financial year 1962-1963 funds totaling 25 million dollars were granted.
