A Survey of Embrittlement and Notch Sensitivity of Heat Resisting Steels
SourceThe phenomenon of embrittlement of steels after heating for extended periods of time has been recognized for many years. That the addition of a stress can accelerate this embrittlement has been claimed by some and denied by other investigators. Recently what appears to be a closely related phenomenon, namely the severe weakening effect caused by notches in creep loading, has been reported in a number of German and Swiss papers.
